Dan Mickelson began working in the construction industry at age 15 in a small cabinetry shop in Heber City, Utah.  Since then he has been driven by a desire to build.  Working as a framing contractor in his 20s, building primarily large homes, Dan learned a lot about running a business and the value of hard work.  In 2006 Dan went to work for Layton Construction as a project superintendent and eventually became a Senior Project Manager managing projects from $5M to $20M in value.  In 2016 Dan had an opportunity to move into the land development arena as a Senior Project Manager for Daybreak in South Jordan, Utah.  This rounded out his construction experience in heavy civil and infrastructure.  Finally, the opportunity came to partner with JD at Six Star Management giving Dan the ability to, once again, operate and help build a business.  Dan brings over 25 years of construction experience to the Six Star team and is excited to see Six Star’s continued success in the Utah market as a solid and reliable general contractor.

JD Larsen’s diverse background in the construction industry is what sets Six Star apart. JD started his career in 1992 with Larsen Construction, a family business. During his time at Larsen Construction, he gained valuable experience working through the ranks from a concrete finisher to foreman to a superintendent, simultaneously managing multiple projects. These positions gave him the opportunity to work in commercial and industrial construction. While at Larsen Construction, he also developed lasting relationships with large and diverse companies, including Lifetime Products and ATK/Northrop Grumman.In 2011, JD went to work for CK Construction as a project manager, division manager over steel erection, interior remodels, and ground up commercial projects.  This deepened his knowledge of building construction.JD went on to expand his civil construction skills in 2013 by going to work for Green Construction Inc as a project manager and an estimator.Then JD partnered with Dan to start Six Star, together they are the dream team. JD is passionate about building great projects for Six Star’s customers and will tirelessly work to make your vision become reality.
